Ruins

Lightning flashed out of the clearest blue skies and struck me
When your dainty face faded into my view
And held my heart hostage.
Your every move triggered earthquakes
Seeping deep into the crevices of my world,
Like fault lines long overdue,
Loose soil I tread towards our imagined rendezvous.
I stumbled upon your beckoning void,
And though I feared heights,
I find myself following your l'appel du vide.
Pour your scalding heat into me
Until I feel my icy heart crack.
Mesmerize me with your riddles,
Even though my perplexity might cost me my sanity,
Even if you were the instrument of the Sphinx's skulduggery.
Brandish your tested sword and smite me,
Strike me in spite of me,
Make me long for the tremor of your touch.
From your hand, I'll drink even the Gorgon's blood,
I'll follow you even if it leads to my own demise.
I'll walk this path even if it all ends up in hell,
I'll walk this path all for my passion I cannot quell,
Even if you leave me all aflame, all ablaze,
Even if you leave me all in ruins.
Ruin me, I do not mind—
No, I wouldn't mind at all.
